Current Recipients

There were two winners of the 2017 RPS Julius Isserlis Scholarship. £20,000 was awarded to percussionist Tom Pritchard, while harpist Richard Allen received £10,000. These awards will help both recipients complete their studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne.

Tom Pritchard - percussion

Victoria HarrildSince 2013, Tom was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (NYO) and in 2015, gained the position of Principal Percussionist until finishing his time there in 2016. Throughout his time there, Tom was given the opportunity to play in some of the top concert halls in the country such as the Birmingham Symphony and the Barbican as well as annual appearances on TV at the BBC Proms. In the summer of 2015, he had the honour of playing at the Konzerthaus in Berlin as part of a Young Persons Orchestra Festival. Read Tom's full biography here

Richard Allen - harp

‘An artist in the true sense of the word’, concert harpist Richard Allen is currently studying with Letizia Belmondo at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (Switzerland), having previously studied with Gabriella Dall’Olio and early harp specialist Frances Kelly as a Trinity College London scholar at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, London, graduating with Distinction in 2016. Richard was born in 1993 in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he also studied clarinet, piano, and traditional Irish harp. Read Richard's full biography here
