The Philharmonia’s innovative Music of Today series offers the chance to hear new music.
London-based pianist Mei Yi Foo has dazzled audiences worldwide with exceptional virtuosity, fabulous musicianship and innovative programming. In this concert, you will encounter composers as diverse as Lachenmann, Gubaidulina, Rzewski and Kurtág with miniatures that enchant and provoke in equal measure. The centerpiece of the programme is master composer Hans Abrahamsen’s magnificient Piano Concerto which packs a huge range of characters and effects into just 15 minutes. It’s “a true concerto, but a quirky and never-predictable one” (The Guardian).
