Stephen and Jackie Newbould
RPS Leslie Boosey Award Recipients (2010)
The Leslie Boosey Award was presented by the Royal Philharmonic Society to Stephen and Jackie Newbould in March 2011 to recognise “their considerable and unfailing contribution to contemporary classical music”.
Presenting the award, Rosemary Johnson, Executive Director of the Royal Philharmonic Society commented:
“Jackie and Stephen Newbould are one of the great partnerships of contemporary music. Together they have guided the award-winning Birmingham Contemporary Music Group over more than two decades, challenging audiences, not only in the metropolis but also in remote rural areas, and engaging them with the life blood of music: composition and the performance of new music. There are rough seas out there today; we are lucky that Jackie and Stephen Newbould are at the helm of the BCMG.”
Brian McMaster, advocate for the arts, former director, Edinburgh International Festival: presented with RPS Honorary Membership in 2009.
