Mark-Anthony Turnage: Hibiki

"The winning work for solo voices, children's choir and orchestra, offers consolation to Japan after war, earthquake and tsunami. It demonstrates an eloquent and mature handling of a culturally and politically sensitive commission. This is serious music of great depth and emotional resonance, skilfully woven with Japanese elements, from a master craftsman at the height of his powers. The winner is Hibiki by Mark-Anthony Turnage."
