Playlists

We are fortunate to live in a time when so much music is accessible online: endless treasures to plunder. But where to start?

Let us help you chart a path with regular RPS playlists, compiled specially for Members. These may be guest-curated by great musicians, or shine a light on a particular composer, performer or facet of musical history.

Our current playlists are:

  • Your playlist: RPS 'Hall of Fame': Here, RPS Members share a favourite work that they would include in their own personal 'Hall of Fame'.
  • Sofia Gubaidulina: a musical guide to the remarkable Russian composer who was awarded the RPS Gold Medal at the 2019 RPS Awards
  • Stephen Sondheim: a collection of musical gems by the much-loved composer and lyricist who was made an RPS Honorary Member in 2019
  • Viola treasures for you to discover: viola player Timothy Ridout introduces us to some of the instrument's unsung riches
  • Rakhi Singh: we invited violinist Rakhi Singh, Music Director of Manchester Collective to share what she’s currently listening to
  • Anna Lapwood: winner of the 2023 Gamechanger Award, Anna Lapwood, invites you to awaken your own musical curiosity as you delve into this playlist, each track accompanied with her special insights
  • The RPS Alternative Festive Playlist: As a thank-you for your support this year, the RPS team has enjoyed curating a playlist of festive music that we love which may not all be familiar to you…
  • Lotte Betts-Dean: Exclusively for RPS Members, we asked mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean – winner of the 2024 RPS Young Artist Award – to share what she’s listening to right now.

You'll need to download Spotify to hear the tracks: it's free with occasional adverts, or £10.99 a month without. It puts an extraordinary array of classical recordings right at your fingertips.
