Oliver Muxworthy

RPS/Classic FM 25th Birthday Commissions Winner

Oliver Muxworthy was born in 1993 and is a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he studied composition with John Ashton Thomas, Errollyn Wallen and Edward Jessen, and conducting with Gregory Rose and Jonathan Tilbrook. His compositional work, which has been described as "vibrant and colourful", has been performed by orchestras, string ensembles, brass bands and many smaller ensembles and soloists. During his time at Trinity Laban, he developed an interest in the link between music and colour, which culminated in an orchestral concert of his works exploring this connection, accompanied by film.

Olly is also a skilled pianist, having played from the age of four, and has considerable experience as a soloist. His proficiency in piano writing won him first place in the 2015 John Halford Prize for piano composition, and has led to his piano pieces being among his most frequently performed works. He also regularly performs as a jazz pianist and singer in some of London's five star hotels, including the Dorchester, Waldorf, Royal Automobile Club and the American Bar at the Savoy.
