Awarded: £10,000 grant towards study abroad
Victoria Harrild has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at numerous prestigious venues throughout Europe, including the Gulbenkian Institute, Lisbon, and St- John’s, Smith Square, London.
Her teachers have included Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher and Prof. Josephine Knight with whom she currently studies at the Royal Academy of Music, on a full scholarship. She has won numerous awards including the Duke of Devonshire Award (ESO Competition), the Ian Alexander Award, the Leverhulme Award, and an MBF Education Award as part of the Suggia Gift.
A keen orchestral player Victoria was the principal cellist of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra of which she was a member from 2008-2010. She is also committed to the performance of contemporary music and recorded the works of Tansy Davies with the Azalea Ensemble for Naxos/nonclassical.
