Aaron Lo Hou Long

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2023 | £500 towards a tenor saxophone

Saxophonist Aaron Lo Hou Long is a second year undergraduate studying with renowned saxophonist Rob Buckland at the Royal Northern College of Music. He was previously the principal saxophonist in the Macau Anglican College symphonic winds as well as the Macau Anglican College Big Band and has also played in other groups such as numerous saxophone quartets, the Twisted Tables fusion jazz band as well as 'thetiredeyes' musical collective as an improvising musician. Apart from saxophone, Aaron also studied piano and has held countless performances, and is an Associate of the Royal Schools of Music (ARSM) with distinction.

Over the years, Aaron has accomplished numerous feats, being the ABRSM high scorer and performing in the high scorers' concert in both 2015 and 2016. He is also the champion in the 38th Macao Youth Music Competition in the Chamber Music for Woodwind Instruments category, champion in The 40th Macao Youth Music Competition in the Saxophone Advanced category, and runner up in the Woodwinds Concerto category. Aaron was also fortunate to receive teaching from world-class musicians such as Dr Brandon Jinwoo Choi, Baptiste Herbin, and Dr Timothy McAllister.
