RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2023 | £500 towards a violin
Abigail Roberts is a first-study violinist and multi-instrumentalist from Oxfordshire. She prides herself on her creativity and versatility with her violin and general music-making.
Abigail started playing the violin at the age of 7 after being inspired by her uncle Roland Roberts’ professional music career. She quickly progressed through music grades, achieving her grade 8 at distinction level by age 15. She was awarded places with scholarships and bursaries to Sibford School and Stowe School as a music scholar. From age 15 she studied at the Royal Junior Birmingham Conservatoire under Catherine Hamer. After doing a few residential orchestra courses with the English Schools Orchestra, she decided that she craved an orchestral career. Her highlight as a music scholar was performing The Lark Ascending with a professional orchestra just before she left Stowe.
Abigail now studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire under the renowned Diana Cummings. She also regularly performs with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra at Cadogan Hall and St John's Smith Square.
