Carmen Craven

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2021 | £500 towards a piccolo

Carmen Craven is a multi-genre flutist currently in her 2nd year at Leeds conservatoire. She studies classical flute under the tuition of Helen Wilson, and studied Irish flute/whistles with Jacquelyn Hynes during her 1st year.

Before starting conservatoire, carmen played in a variety of ensembles such as the Salford symphonic wind band and chamber ensembles/orchestras at Xavierian college in Manchester. During her time at sixth form college, she also played the Vivaldi flute concerto in D major with the string orchestra. She also achieved her grade 8 flute with distinction.

After her undergraduate, carmen wishes to peruse a career in both teaching and performance, including orchestral playing. She looks forward to developing her piccolo playing further during her degree to be able to play in a wider range of ensembles.
