Christian Hoddinott

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2020 | £500 towards an A clarinet

Clarinettist Christian Hoddinott is a first year undergraduate studying with clarinettist Douglas Mitchell at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Christian grew up in a small village in Kent and became a member of the Kent Youth Wind Orchestra in 2014 aged 12; leading the orchestra from the end of 2016 until he left in 2018. He was invited to join the Kent County Youth Orchestra in 2015 becoming the principal clarinet in 2017, and has had the opportunity to work under various conductors, notably Michael Seal, Caroline Hobbs-Smith and Natalia Luis-Bassa. Christian is looking forward to continuing his studies at the RBC and is extremely grateful for the grant from the Royal Philharmonic Society.
