Eoin O’Gorman is a trumpet player from Belfast currently in his second year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with Peter Franks, Principal Trumpet of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. From 2017-2019 he was principal trumpet of the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra, with whom he has performed in Seville, Lisbon, Belfast, Dublin, The Royal Albert Hall in London, Brussels and Amsterdam. In his last year as a member of the orchestra he was featured as a soloist, playing the first movement of the Neruda Trumpet Concerto both at home in Northern Ireland, and at the NI Executive Office in Brussels. He has also been either principal or co-principal trumpet of the Ulster Youth Orchestra from 2018-2020, most notably as principal trumpet on their 25th anniversary tour to Vienna and Bratislava in August 2018.

During his first year of studies at the RCS he received a place on the Ulster Orchestra’s Professional Experience Scheme for the 2019/20 season. This allowed him to travel to Belfast at different points of the year to attend and play in the orchestras rehearsals and receive mentoring from the musicians there on various aspects of the job orchestral musicians do.
