RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2021 | £1000 towards a marimba

Eva Laverty is currently a 2nd year BMus scholarship student studying Orchestral Percussion at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Originally from Ireland, Eva grew up in North London and was an active member of Haringey Young Musicians from an early age.

As well as performing frequently with youth and adult community orchestras, Eva has performed in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall with Haringey Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and Royal Festival Hall in a joint project with the London Sinfonietta. Her percussion skills have brought her further afield too with tours in Sweden, Texas, Amsterdam and Belgium. In 2019, she received the Jack Petchey Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in the Borough of Haringey and was then awarded the Tottenham Grammar School Special Somerset Award in 2020.

Eva is particularly enjoying exploring other musical genres including Jazz, Afro-Cuban and Folk at RBC as well as expanding her classical repertoire and this support from the Royal Philharmonic Society will allow her to continue furthering her studies.
