RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2023 | £500 towards a trumpet

Sam grew up surrounded by music, in particular within orchestras, wind bands and brass bands, he started playing the cornet at the age of 6. Sam made his concerto debut whilst touring Germany playing the Haydn Trumpet Concerto and most recently played the Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto in Milton Keynes. Sam studied trumpet at the Royal College of Music Junior Department under Torbjörn Hultmark during his years in Sixth Form, at which time he performed as a soloist in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall. On graduating from RCMJD he received the Freda Dinn and Ida Mabbet Prizes. Sam was principal trumpet for the National Youth Orchestra, most notably performing at the BBC Proms 2022. Sam now studies under Paul Beniston at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is a full scholar under the Chartered Surveyors’ Company.
