Sehyogue Aulakh

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2020 | £1,000 towards a xylophone

Sehyogue Aulakh is an Anglo-Indian percussionist currently studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She studies percussion with Adrian Spillett, Sophie Hastings, Toby Kearney, Andrew Herbert, Cormac Bryne, Dalbir Singh Rattan (tabla) and timpani with Matt Hardy and has played in masterclasses with Christian Weaver, Adélaïde Ferrière, Grahame King, Patrick King, Le Yu and Evelyn Glennie. Growing up in Devon with mixed heritage has hugely influenced her view on the value of music, globally and the importance of inclusion. She is keen to ‘make a difference’ and regularly volunteers at Plymouth Music Zone (an organisation who have been an integral part of her musical path) as well as playing with the National Open Youth Orchestra and Chineke!.
