RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2019 | £2,000 towards a Classical Guitar
Dominika Dawidowska was born in 1999 in Poland. She started to play the guitar at the age of six under the supervision of Jan Kowalczyk, who taught her until 2018 when she obtained a Polish music school diploma with honours. From 2014, Prof. Flavio Apro was also supporting her artistic development. She currently studies with Prof. Allan Neave at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Dominika takes part in many guitar festivals, workshops and competitions. She has won over 40 prizes in international competitions all over the Europe: in Parma, Antwerp, Kurna-Hora, Pleven, Reisbach, Vienna, Frydek-Mistek, Olsztyn, Trzęsacz, Żory, Krynica Zdrój and many others. Among the prizes, she was nominated to participate in the final stage of VIII J.S.Bach International Guitar Competition in Tokyo, but had to resign due to a serious hand injury.
Dominika has worked with many outstanding virtuosos from around the world. These include Marcin Dylla, Zoran Dukic, Michael Lewin, Lorenzo Michelli, Andrew York, Virginia Luque, Flavio Ciatto, Petr Saidl, Pavel Steidl, Masayuki Kato, Tomasz Zawierucha, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, Christine Spannhof and many others.
She performed in places such as the Royal Baths Palace in Warsaw, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, and the Pomeranian Dukes Castle in Szczecin. She has also been invited to perform at various guitar festivals, including the Big Guitar Weekend and the International Guitar Festival in Krynica Zdrój.
