RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2019 | £1,000 towards a Classical Guitar
Luke Anderson is one of a select few taking the BMus classical guitar course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) in 2019. He will spend the next four years at RCS under the tutelage of Professor Allan Neave and the guitar department in Glasgow.
Beginning his studies in 2015, Luke was successful in applying to RCS’s Junior Guitar Department. During this time he studied with teacher and composer Peter Stewart receiving distinction in ABRSM grades. Luke is grateful to have had this opportunity providing a solid foundation for his musical development.
Following this, Luke has had the privilege to study with renowned performer and teacher Professor Allan Neave which has been an invaluable experience, impacting Luke’s approach to the instrument. Luke has also attending many guitar festivals, courses and lectures including; Classical Guitar Retreat, Big guitar Weekend, Junior Conservatoire Summer Course, British National Fretted Orchestra and Edinburgh International Guitar Festival.
Luke has attended masterclasses with well known international artists such as: Stephanie Jones, Pavel Steidl, Rene Izquierdo, Matthew McAllister, Gabriel Bianco, Stephen Goss, Sasha Savaloni and Gary Ryan.
In 2019 Luke was awarded a grant from Royal Philharmonic Society for the purchase a new instrument from luthier Michael Gee.
