Michal Oren
I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in orchestral conducting with a full scholarship at the Royal College of Music. My musical journey began in childhood when, despite my parents having no connection to classical music, they believed it would have a calming effect on me. Eventually, I discovered a deep passion for playing the recorders and the clarinet. As a teenager, my curiosity for the world of conducting grew strong, and I have not lost any of that passion since.
I completed bachelor’s degrees in orchestral conducting as well as in clarinet performance at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv. The training and orchestra experience I gained as a clarinettist provided valuable lessons for my conducting career.Last September, I won the 1st prize in the 4th International Academy and Competition of Orchestra Conducting in Estoril, Portugal, and will return as a guest conductor the next season. I am the founder and musical curator of an in-house museum orchestra that collaborates with the Petach-Tikva Museum of Art in Israel. My approach to music goes beyond performance; it is driven by a commitment to bridging cultural divides, support inclusivity, and engage in dialogue.
