2017 RPS Instrument Purchase Grant recipient
Raymond is a clarinettist based in London, and has been studying at Guildhall School of Music and Drama from September 2016, where he is a Guildhall scholar. He is currently under the tutelage of Nicholas Carpenter, Robert Ault (bass clarinet) and Jennifer McLaren (Eb clarinet). At Guildhall he is a member of the Sundial Chamber Orchestra, whilst participating in many other orchestral and chamber music concerts. In December he is touring with his piano quartet to Scotland.
Recently Raymond has won the Hatfield and District Music Festival woodwind and overall prizes, and will be performing Neilson clarinet concerto with DeHalliard Orchestra later next year. He has performed in Royal Albert hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and the Barbican, and as a soloist regularly plays at Wantage Music Festival, St. Annes College Oxford University, amongst others. Recent performances include concerts with Oxford Festival Orchestra's Chamber Series, Sundial Chamber Orchestra spring concert and a recital for the Guildhall New Music Society. Raymond previously studied clarinet at Royal College of Music Junior Department with Alex Allen.
Raymond is also a singer as a member of the London Symphony Chorus, regularly performing with the London Symphony Orchestra, which whom he will be making his BBC Proms debut this summer 2017, as well as touring to Paris later this year. He studies composition with Paul Whitmarsh, and has had many of his latest compositions premièred, most notably his Sinfonietta 'Nature-Solitude' with the Oxford Festival Orchestra in 2016, and Negetations II with the Guildhall New Music Society.

DID YOU KNOW?
In October 1970, Lutoslawski's Cello Concerto received its world premiere, having been commissioned by the RPS. The soloist was Rostropovich, who received our highest honour, the Gold Medal, the same year.
