Connor Gingell

2018 RPS Instrument Purchase Grant | Tuba

Connor grew up in Bolton and started the tuba aged 11 with Ryan Breen. He began playing in local youth brass bands and symphony orchestras, and in 2012 was asked to join Wingates Brass Band by trombone player and conductor Andrew Berryman. As Principal Tuba of the band Connor has performed in some of the most prestigious contests in the world, including the British Open, Brass in Concert and The National Finals.

Connor is currently a student of Peter Smith and Lee Tsarmaklis at the Royal College Of Music.

From 1819 the Society’s home was the Harmonic Institution built by John Nash in Regents Street. The building was destroyed by fire in 1830 and is now the site of a NatWest Bank.
