DRUM KIT & HARDWARE
Hugh Padmore was born in 1997 and started music playing the violin at age 3. Originally from Hexham, Hugh also sang in the Hexham Abbey choir until he left in 2009 to take a place at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh. It was at St Mary’s that Hugh first started playing drums informally during the school jazz days once a month. Two years later Hugh picked up percussion as a third study after violin and piano, but switched percussion to his principal study mid 2013.
Next year he will be taking a place to study classical percussion on the Bmus course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. During his time at St Mary’s Hugh has played with several jazz bands within and outside the school including Seasalt Jazz Quintet, the St Mary’s senior Jazz ensemble and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland Access Band. On the Percussion side of things Hugh has played with the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra, the St Mary’s Music School Orchestra as well playing in productions of Carmen, Cosi Fan Tutti and West Side Story.
