Alexander Henshaw

2018 RPS Instrument Purchase Grant | Percussion

Alex is currently a 2nd year orchestral percussionist studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. His playing incorporates a huge range of styles and genres, from classical, funk, folk and jazz, right the way to samba, all of which he enjoys equally. Playing multiple styles of music means that Alex ends up using a whole host of instruments including marimba, cajon, timpani, bodhran, bata and many more.

Alex was junior organ scholar at Wells Cathedral School before joining college as a percussionist. In his spare time he enjoys delving deep into the world of cinematography.
