2016 RPS Intrument Purchase Grant recipient
Lauren is currently studying BMus (Hons) Performance with horn as principal study at the Royal Northern College of music under the tutelage of Lindsey Stoker, alongside the hand horn with Rebecca Goldberg.
Born in Derby, Lauren's musical education started at her local primary school with the cornet, which she took to grade seven. It was some years later at the age of fourteen that Lauren came to play the horn, after discovering her father once played and still owned the instrument.
Lauren has since played with a range of ensembles including City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as playing as principal horn in her local county ensembles for a number of years.
Lauren has also been a part of the wider opportunities scheme, working in primary schools across Derby and Derbyshire, teaching a wide variety of instruments. She understands the importance of a good musical education and how it develops young peoples' personal skills. Passing on her personal experiences of developing as a musician and as a person, is an invaluable experience she wishes to pass on to the next generation.
