Jaz Moss

2016 RPS Instrument Purchase Grant recipient


Jaz Moss is a bassist, saxophonist and composer based in South East London. Born just outside of London Jaz started classical saxophone lessons at the age of 9. His love of music picked up considerably when he was given jazz records that belonged to his father. At age 13, Jaz immersed himself into the London jazz scene regular travelling up to see his favourite artists as well as studying the jazz tradition, sight reading and technical aspects of the music.

By the time he enrolled at the Purcell School Of Music, Jaz was taking an interest in composition and other instruments. He soon switched to bass guitar after he saw Michael League of Snarky Puppy in concert. During Jaz's teenage years he doubled on both sax and bass playing in venues such as Ronnie Scott's, Oliver's Jazz Bar and The Troy Bar. Jaz has been fortunate to of studied at organisations such as The Julian Joseph Jazz Academy, The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Berklee College Of Music, Royal Academy Junior Jazz and is now currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
