2016 RPS Instrument Purchase Grant recipient
Megan was born in Great Yarmouth and did not begin playing flute until the age of 11. She had achieved her Grade 8 by the age of 14, and also plays piccolo and piano. She played in Norfolk Centre for Young Musicians for two years, and Norfolk County Youth Orchestra for three years, and enjoyed performing in tours in Germany and Belgium.
Just before her 16th birthday, Megan began lessons with the inspirational Anna Noakes, Professor of Flute at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Megan played in Britten Sinfonia Academy, performing at the Barbican Centre with composer John Woolrich and West Road Cambridge with Iain Farrington. She has taken part in masterclasses with Ian Clarke, Wissam Boustany and Dave Heath, working on extended flute techniques. Megan performs frequently in local charity concerts and shows in Great Yarmouth and Norwich, and has also just finished playing for "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Hampton Hill Playhouse.
Now finishing her first year of study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Megan is continuing her studies with Anna Noakes. She is going to Germany in July with the Triorca Project, and she greatly enjoys West End shows, Ballet and Opera, and Classical concerts. She hopes to play professionally at orchestral level, and is happy to try everything that comes her way!
David Lowe, Music Lover: I'm always pleased to hear about the work done by the RPS to assist young performers and composers. They are indeed the future of music.
