2017 Instrument Purchase Grant recipient
I am an undergraduate student at the Royal College of Music in London, studying French horn with Timothy Jones. I am a RCM Foundation Scholar and Frederick and Phyllis Treby Scholar. Bulgaria. As a RCM student I have participated in several Symphonic and Philharmonia orchestra concerts. I have also performed in the Fergus McWilliam’s horn masterclass in October 2016. In 2009, I began my horn studies with Stoyan Karaivanov in the Dobrin Petkov National school of music and dance arts. In 2010, I was overall Grand Prix Laureate at the ‘Surmi Bukovini' International competition in Ukraine. In 2013, I performed two recitals, in Plovdiv and in Sofia, and for the first time in Bulgaria all concert works for horn written by Mozart were performed on this concerts. In 2014, I won first prize and special prize for the best performance of a compulsory piece at the International competition "Eujen Coca" in Kishinev, Moldova. In 2015, I made my debut as a soloist in a performance of the Concert piece for horn and orchestra, op.94 by Camille Saint-Saens with the Symphonic orchestra of Plovdiv State Opera. I also played the Second Horn Sonata by Luigi Cherubini with the Chamber orchestra of Dobrin Petkov National School of music and dance arts. In 2015, I was the only student awarded for High Creative Achievements in category “Wind instruments“ at the “Prof.Pancho Vladigueroff” National Awards by the National Music Academy “. Pancho Vladigueroff”. In 2015, I was Grand Prix Laureate at the Dobrin Petkov International competition and also won special prize for best performance of a Bulgarian piece. In 2014-2016 I was a member of the Balkan youth symphonic orchestra under the conductorship of Maxim Eshkenazy and Lubomir Denev Junior. I was a scholarship student of the Bulgarian Ministry of culture and the foundation of the Bulgarian conductor Yordan Kamdzhalov. In 2015-2016 I played in a trio chamber ensemble (flute, horn and piano), which won first prize at the International music internet competition in Belgrade, Serbia and fourth and special prize for premiere performances at the “Plovdiv” International chamber music competition. In 2016, I performed Concertino for horn and orchestra, op.45 by Carl Maria von Weber with the Symphonic orchestra of Plovdiv State opera. In 2016, I graduated the Dobrin Petkov National School of music and dance arts as the top of my class and I was awarded with the Dobrin Petkov’s annual award for High Music Achievements.
