Notice of EGM – Wednesday 23 October 2019
In addition to its Board of Trustees, the RPS has an advisory Council of eminent individuals who lend valued advice and support to help the charity fulfil its aims. To ensure we reflect and keep pace with music-making nationally, we aspire to welcome new voices to the Council regularly. As shared at our AGM in April 2019, our Council will now – in accordance with our Articles of Association – rotate regularly, and some former Council members kindly stepped down earlier this year to make way for new representatives.
We are in the process of approaching new candidates to join the Council and look forward to welcoming some eminent musical personalities shortly. To make the most of what they have to offer, we are looking to add, by special resolution, a technical amendment to our Articles of Association permitting that such individuals – who the Board deems to be excellent candidates for the Council – may be appointed by the Board during the year, ahead of formal re-appointment at the AGM each Spring. This step will enable the charity to welcome Council members in the same way it welcomes new Board members.
To pass this resolution, the Board will convene a short EGM at 4.00pm on Wednesday 23 October at the RPS office, notice of which is posted below. This will be a very short meeting, at which only the business above will be conducted. Should any Members wish to attend, please do let Robin Sheffield, our General Manager, know in advance on 020 7287 0019 or by email: robin[at]philharmonicsociety.uk
