A new RPS co-commission from Julian Anderson will receive its premiere performances in Berlin, London and Boston over the next twelve months.

Co-commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society, Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation and Boston Symphony Orchestra, Julian Anderson's latest orchestral work, Incantesimi, will receive its premiere performances in Berlin with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle on June 8, 9 and 10.

The UK premiere of Incantesimi, again performed by Rattle and the Berlin Philharmoniker, will take place at the BBC Proms on 3 September and further performances will be given by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 2017.

In October 1970, Lutoslawski's Cello Concerto received its world premiere, having been commissioned by the RPS. The soloist was Rostropovich, who received our highest honour, the Gold Medal, the same year.
