Job Vacancy: Relationships Manager
27 Feb 2020
We are now welcoming applications for the new role of Relationships Manager, central to the future success of the RPS.
Update: we are currently reviewing the likely impact of the current Coronavirus situation on all our usual activities. As things stand, we do not expect to be back in the office by 16 April when we initially hoped to hold first-round interviews for this role. As we anticipate potential applicants may have unforeseen issues of their own to deal with just now, we have decided to extend the time you have to apply, setting a new closing date of 10am on Tuesday 5 May 2020. First-round interviews will then follow later that month, either in person, or possibly online if we all still find ourselves confined. Should we need to make any further changes to these plans, we will update this webpage / this document. We hope you will still consider applying for the role, and if you have any questions about it, please do not hesitate in the first instance to contact Robin Sheffield, our General Manager, on firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
For over 200 years, the Royal Philharmonic Society has been at the heart of music, creating opportunities for musicians to excel, championing the vital role that music plays in all our lives. This is an exciting moment to join the RPS team. This year, the RPS embarks on a major new chapter in its history, launching all-new Membership intended to transform its profile and scope, and attain a place in the hearts and minds of the public equivalent to the Royal Horticultural Society and the National Trust.
Through Membership, which comprises a range of new levels and benefits, the RPS hopes to rouse greater interest in classical music and what makes Britain ‘philharmonic’. We want to help the public feel more connected to the vibrant musical ecology on their doorstep, giving them a greater impression of the personalities, stories and passions behind music-making nationally, whilst inviting them to share their views and be more outgoing in their exploration of all that music has to offer.
The Relationships Manager is a new position calling for someone with drive, passion and imagination, who cares about classical music and the role the RPS can play in proving its worth. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will initiate and develop a wealth of creative ideas in our new Strategic Plan to introduce the RPS to audiences nationally. You will take the lead in encouraging them to become RPS Members whilst ensuring those who have joined truly enjoy their Membership, cherishing the closer connectivity to classical music it brings them.
Please read the detailed role brief if you would like to learn more, and thank you for sharing the opportunity with anyone you think it may interest.
As noted above, the closing date for applications has been extended to 10am on Tuesday 5 May 2020.
To apply, you should email the following to Robin Sheffield, General Manager at email@example.com by the closing date:
- a covering letter detailing your interest and suitability for this role
- an up-to-date CV of no more than two pages outlining your relevant experience
Please note that late or incomplete applications cannot be accepted.
If you are interested in applying but would like to find out more first, we’d be delighted to hear from you. We warmly welcome you to contact us with any residual queries or to ask for an informal chat. In the first instance, while the RPS office is currently closed, please email Robin Sheffield - our General Manager - on firstname.lastname@example.org.
