The Philharmonia’s innovative Music of Today series offers the chance to hear new music.
Marc-André Dalbavie writes music that is equally refined, accessible and advanced. It refers to the recent achievements of spectralism, to the legacies of Debussy and Ravel and to the classical tradition, combining cutting-edge invention with timeless quality. The programme includes his nonet Tactus, a classic, and La marche des transitoires for solo oboe and ensemble, an inventive take on the concerto genre: this is music of immediate impact that brings together intellectual rigour, rhythmic momentum and harmonic imagination.
