BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists
scheme, in partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Society, was launched in 1999 as part of the BBC’s commitment to young musical talent. Now, in its 18th year, the scheme is still going strong and has produced scores of young soloists and ensembles that are now part of the fabric of the musical culture here in the UK and across the world.
This weekend offers a series of showcase recitals for four of the current batch of New Generation Artists, including trombonist, Peter Moore; mezzo-soprano, Kathryn Rudge; clarinetist, Annelien Van Wauwe; and the Armida Quartett who perform in this recital. The programme features the world premiere of a new work by Johannes Fischer, co-commissioned by RPS and Radio 3 and written especially for the Quartet.
