To mark the RPS's 200th Birthday today. Classic FM
and the Royal Philharmonic Society join to celebrate the skill of listening with a day full of facts and tips to get the most out of classical music.
The day features key works that were commissioned or premiered by the Society, including works by many of classical music’s most famous composers.
Across the course of the whole week on Classic FM's Full Works Concert (21-25 January at 8pm
), Jane Jones will be exploring the legacy of the RPS, an organisation that has commissioned a huge number of now-famous works, including Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 (‘Choral’) and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 (‘Italian’), playing those works in their entirety, alongside pieces that received their first performance in England thanks to the Philharmonic Society.
