Six outstanding soloists join forces to perform four atmospheric pieces by Grammy-nominated composer Dobrinka Tabakova - ‘Halo’, ‘Midnight’, ‘Frozen River Flows’ and RPS commission ‘PULSE’. PULSE is a noir-like, expressionistic short about peril, rescue and the basic human need to connect. It expresses how fundamental our mental wellbeing is, how complex and sinister the territory in people’s minds can become. A collaboration between filmmaker Ruth Paxton and composer Dobrinka Tabakova, commissioned by Royal Philharmonic Society for the PRS for Music Foundation 2014 New Music Biennial. Ian Buckle, Richard Uttley piano Richard Benjafield, George Barton percussion Robert Campion, Isabelle Carré gamelan Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival is an annual, international festival of contemporary and new music, over 10 days consisting of approximately 50 events, including concerts, music-theatre, dance, multi-media, talks and film, with a related Learning and Participation programme devised and implemented to reflect the artistic programme and respond to regional need
