Taking the ideas of ‘pulse’ and ‘place’, the Royal Philharmonic Society pairs Dobrinka Tabakova’s rich musical language with Ruth Paxton’s bold film-making to create PULSE, a noir-like, expressionistic short about peril, rescue and the basic human need to connect. Set in central Glasgow, PULSE follows two strangers who share a brief, yet profound exchange that evokes sympathy, understanding, recognition and hope. Within our busy lives, within our cosmopolitan cities with their mix of cultures, humanity still connects. www.pulse2014.org PULSE ensemble: Piano - Rolf Hind / Richard Uttley Percussion - Richard Benjafield / George Barton Gamelan - Robert Campion / Isabelle Carré
