Women Conductors | Ballet

Sat 18 May 2019 - Sun 19 May 2019

Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London

The Royal Philharmonic Society is proud to present its very first Women Conductors Ballet Course, in partnership with the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera House in London.

This intensive two-day course will see a cohort of 6 participants evolving their skills and fluency in the art of ballet conducting with Koen Kessels, one of Britain’s leading ballet conductors, and dancers from the Royal Ballet. As well as learning the principles of conducting for ballet, participants will be taught the rehearsal process for dance, what professional dancers need and expect from a conductor and how musicians and dancers collaborate. A team of expert coaches - including Paul Murphy, Principal Conductor of Birmingham Royal Ballet and Alice Farnham, founder of the RPS Women Conductors programme - will give them expert guidance throughout the weekend.
