Women Conductors | Liverpool

Sun 17 Mar 2019 9.30am-5.30pm

The Hub, Gordon Stephenson Building, Department of Music, University of Liverpool

Event Price: £15

In 2019, Women Conductors heads to Liverpool for the very first time to reach aspiring female conductors and leaders in the city and neighbouring towns!

The Phase 1.5 workshop is for women who have undertaken some conducting tuition as part of their studies or professional development, and who wish to make conducting a serious aspect of their career. If this opportunity speaks to you, or you know someone who wants to advance their conducting skills, we warmly invite you to apply or spread the word.

Participants will further develop their baton technique with course leader Alice Farnham and body language savoir-faire with Alma Sheehan, which will help them towards becoming more confident and technically assured conductors. We're most thrilled to be joined by string players and repetiteurs from Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, who will support our participants and offer feedback to them throughout the day.

If you're a dedicated musician who's thinking to try one of our workshops, you can have a taste of this one by buying an observer ticket for the afternoon session, during which participants will conduct the string ensemble.

To book an observer place, please visit the University of Liverpool website. Read about the RPS Women Conductors programme and testimonies from former workshop participants, here.
