Storytelling
supported by Martin Randall Festivals
For an imaginative entity which, in a lateral medium, newly or distinctly furthered the understanding of classical music in the UK.
In 2026, we present the Storytelling Award in memory of Sir Humphrey Burton, a master storyteller himself who did so much to illuminate the wonders of classical music, and was one of the founding forces behind the RPS Awards.
Everything We Do Is Music – Elizabeth Alker
‘Elizabeth Alker’s book Everything We Do Is Music doesn’t just join the dots between classical and pop music. It invites readers to re-imagine both genres as one interlinked constellation. Perpetually fresh and illuminating, it’s like being invited to a party where Steve Reich, Satie, and Penderecki rub shoulders with the Beatles, Brian Eno, and Donna Summer. Elizabeth herself makes the most convivial host.'
