Cerys Beddows

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2025 | £825 towards an A clarinet

Cerys Beddows is a clarinettist studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Douglas Mitchell. Growing up, Cerys lived in Australia from the age of ten to fifteen, where she competed annually in Eisteddfod competitions. Her success in Queensland Conservatorium’s State Honours Ensemble Program gave her a taste of what it would be like to be an orchestral student at a conservatoire.

Although she had limited orchestral experience before starting her undergraduate degree last September, she has thrown herself into orchestral life across her first year -taking part in the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Repertoire Orchestra and Wind Orchestra, as well as the Romantic Revival Orchestra. This new demand for regular orchestral activities calls for an A clarinet, which has been made possible through the RPS Instrument Purchase Grant.
