

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2025 | £825 towards a horn
Ellie Dierckx is a French horn player studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, with Neil Shewan, Elspeth Dutch and Ursula Paludan Monberg. In Birmingham she is involved with as many orchestral projects as she can be, from playing with the Kimichi Symphony Orchestra to conducting her own youth orchestra. She also plays with brass quintet, Quintus Brass, has featured on jazz recordings, and in premiere performances of contemporary music. She has also recently toured with Joe Broughton's Conservatoire Folk Ensemble.
Ellie grew up in West Yorkshire, where she has been a member of Musica Youth Orchestra since 2017, playing Second Horn. With the orchestra, she has toured abroad and played in the Music for Youth Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. In 2024, she played alongside the National Youth Orchestra in the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall for the premiere of Dani Howard’s Three, Four AND... She has since gone on to play with the English Symphony Youth Orchestra, being selected for their side-by-side scheme as part of the Elgar Festival.
