Elinor Mason

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2025 | £500 towards a snare drum

Elinor Mason is an undergraduate percussionist at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM), studying with Neil Percy and Simon Carrington. Having started on piano, Elinor's love for percussion grew after joining her local brass band and drum corps in her home town, Macclesfield. She then became very interested in orchestral percussion, going on to earn principal percussion positions in both the National Youth Orchestra and Hallé Youth Orchestra, with whom she was fortunate enough to tour the UK and Germany.

Some of Elinor's notable achievements include performing solo at the 2024 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, and at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Music For Youth 2024 Proms with VibaDuo (a marimba and violin duo).

Since starting RAM, Elinor is grateful to have performed with many of their ensembles, including the Manson Ensemble and RAM Wind Ensemble, as well as externally with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and University of London Symphony Orchestra. She is looking forward to more opportunities to come, and is thankful for the RPS Instrument Purchase Grant, which will tremendously support her with her studies and career.
