Oliver Jackson

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2025 | £350 towards congas

Oliver Jackson is an ambitious drummer and percussionist from Sheffield and is enjoying all aspects of his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. With an active interest for a wide range of genres, he has played with a variety of bands and ensembles in prestigious concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Gateshead.

Oliver’s musical journey began at the age of nine, but it was his interest in drums, inspired by his father, that set him on his current path. At the age of 16, he joined his local brass band, which sparked his passion for orchestral percussion. In just two years, with private lessons, hard work and dedication, he went on to play with the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band, with whom he has had the opportunity to perform in several countries across Europe. Oliver looks forward to continuing his journey having been awarded a bursary with The Royal Corps of Army Music, and a guaranteed place as a postgraduate Army musician.
