Reuben McFarlane is a trombonist currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He is a founding member of the Braemar Brass Quintet and has played with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland since 2023. He was awarded a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in 2022 which culminated in a performance at the BBC Proms. Prior to that he was a member of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain. 

Reuben attended the Junior Department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland throughout the 2023-24 academic year, performing in its various ensembles including the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra. As a Music Scholar at Morrison’s Academy, he won the school’s annual music competition three times and also represented the North of Scotland in the District Final of the Rotary Young Musician in 2023.  He has twice been awarded the Thomas H Stewart Memorial Award for outstanding brass performances at the Perform in Perth Music Festival.
