Serena studies tenor horn at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She grew up in Wales, in a small village called Glynneath. Here she competed at the Urdd Eisteddfod with school and at the age of 10 reached the finals. She joined Cwmtawe Brass Band aged 12, and with them performed at two National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. 

As part of Neath Port Talbot Music Service, she toured Italy twice, performing in a variety of different venues. She has also played alongside the Tongwynlais Temperance Band in two concerts, as well as in rehearsal. In May 2026, she played with The City of Cardiff Melingriffith Brass Band at the British Open Spring Festival.
