

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2025 | £200 towards a clarinet ligature and mouthpiece
Taran McNeil is a clarinettist studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Maura Marinucci. Taran is from Neath in South Wales and has always grasped at as many musical opportunities as possible.
As an experienced musical theatre pit musician, he has played in debuts of four new musicals with British Youth Music Theatre. He is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, and has performed challenging repertoire with them such as the works of Stravinsky and Bernstein.
Taran has performed with the National Youth Orchestra’s Inspire programme, and is also currently on the National Children’s Orchestra Horizons scheme, where his role includes playing alongside to support the young people. Taran is also a thriving composer, producing many works used in Japanese animations and video games.
