RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2024 | £750 towards a viola
Isabelle Nettle is a viola player currently studying at the Royal College of Music with Jonathan Barritt. Before joining the RCM, she was a Specialist Musician on a Government-funded Music and Dance Scheme Scholarship at Wells Cathedral School where she studied with Alex Thorndike.
From 2019-2022 she was a member of the National Youth Orchestra where she had the opportunity to play at the BBC Proms as well as tours in the UK and Germany. Isabelle has also taken part in various chamber opportunities, most recently in the Chamber Music series at J & A Beares.
From September 2024 she will be Principal Viola of the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, as well as participating in projects with the Odyssey Festival Orchestra and London Opera Company. After a successful side-by-side scheme in June, she was invited to play in the viola section of the English National Ballet for performances of Swan Lake in the round at the Royal Albert Hall.
Isabelle is very grateful to the Royal Philharmonic Society for her generous Instrument Purchase Grant, which has allowed her to buy a beautiful English viola made by Thomas Kennedy.
