Norman Nainggolan

RPS Instrument Purchase Grant 2024 | £400 towards a violin bow

Norman started playing the violin when he was 12 years old. He studied violin with Giovani Biga and is now attending the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on a full scholarship from the Indonesian Government, where he is studying BMus Performance under the guidance of Ruth Crouch. During this time, he won the 2nd prize in the 1st UPH Violin Competition, and he also gained a place in the Asian Youth Orchestra, which plays in 6 countries across Asia.

Norman has performed with the RCS Symphony Orchestra in Celtic Connections Scotland at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Barrowland Ballroom, as well as several Symphony Projects and chamber music performances. He has performed with professional orchestras such as Twilite Orchestra, Jakarta Concert Orchestra (the latest concert was at Singapore's Esplanade Concert Hall), Gita Bahana Nusantara (the orchestra that performs at The Merdeka Palace), and Erwin Gutawa Orchestra as a soloist. He has had the opportunity to attend various masterclasses, the most recent being with Simon Fischer at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
