Owen Putter

Piano | 2024 Julius Isserlis Scholarship

A note from Owen

I am extremely grateful to have been chosen as a recipient of an RPS Julius Isserlis Scholarship. The financial support will enable me to study piano on the non-degree programme at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary.

The Academy’s keyboard department is world-renowned, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to study at an institution that has been home to so many celebrated pianists, including Béla Bartók, György Kurtág, György Cziffra, András Schiff and, of course, Franz Liszt. Hungary is a country with such a rich classical music history and tradition, and I am excited to experience new ways of teaching and approaching music.

During my time in Budapest, I look forward to immersing myself in the widest range of musical experiences, from solo lessons, practice, and performances, to playing in chamber groups, attending concerts and meeting other young aspiring musicians from across the world who share my passion for music.

A huge thank you to the RPS for making this possible!
