Garsington Opera is one of Britain’s most enchanting summer opera festivals, where world-class music and drama meet the serene beauty of the English countryside. The Festival takes place each summer at Wormsley, the spectacular private estate owned by the Getty family. A hallmark of the Festival is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to explore the picturesque estate, with its landscaped gardens, cricket ground and tranquil lake. The long dining interval is a cherished part of the experience, whether enjoyed in the elegant Boundary Room Restaurant or as a picnic in one of the specially designated tents or beside the lake.

Each season, the Festival presents an exceptional programme of four productions, ranging from beloved operatic masterpieces to lesser-known gems and contemporary works. Performances feature internationally renowned singers alongside rising stars, accompanied by either the Philharmonia Orchestra or The English Concert. The acclaimed Garsington Opera Chorus includes the company’s Emerging Artists—next generation singers who benefit from a prestigious programme of coaching, mentorship and performance opportunities.

In 2024, the opening of Garsington Studios brought the company’s wider artistic activities together under one roof, just a short walk from the pavilion. Serving as the Festival’s rehearsal home, the Studios have expanded opportunities for more people to engage with artistic creativity in Buckinghamshire, helping to safeguard the future of the Festival for generations to come. Beyond the summer season, the company delivers a broad programme of community and education initiatives through GO Participate, while continuing to develop its Production Arts Traineeships to nurture the next generation of backstage talent.
