The RPS has commissioned composer Grace-Evangeline Mason to write a new choral piece with kind support from the Vaughan Williams Foundation, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams. Grace was part of the RPS Composers programme in 2018, and her work The Imagined Forest was premiered by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic at the BBC Proms in 2021. The new work, for mixed-voice choir, cello solo and piano, is in three short movements and intended to be performed by non-professional and professional choirs alike. It is set to be published by Boosey & Hawkes.

The first performers of A Memory of the Ocean will be 2021 RPS Inspiration Award winners Bristol Choral Society and their Music Director Hilary Campbell, and they plan to record the work for Delphian Records.
