Boy Breaking Glass

Fri 24 Apr 2020, 8:00pm - 9:00pm

KVS Brussels, Belgium

A live dance theatre piece created by Ayanna Witter-Johnson and Alesandra Seutin.

This year the RPS Drummond Fund is supporting Boy Breaking Glass, a live dance theatre piece blending traditional African dances with contemporary language. In this, composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson and Alesandra Seutin ask, 'How does one survive in a system that does not always embrace you?' A poem of the same name was written by Gwendolyn Brooks, the first black female poet in the United States to receive a Pulitzer Prize. Ayanna and Alesandra hope this piece speaks to and inspires audiences of all colours, especially those who do not often see themselves represented on stage.

Boy Breaking Glass will be performed in Belgium and the UK. The first staged performance is given at KVS Brussels.
